Custom Photography...

Well, I've been trying to write on this subject for a good long time but never got the time to sit down and put all my thoughts together... but finally here it is.. so why custom photography? Custom photography is not a regular retail studio setting experience, it is something not every person can afford but SHOULD at least once in a lifetime! Unless you experience you will never know how special it is! Custom photography is like a fancy but very comfortable pair of shoes because photographer molds the session and creation of your family heirlooms personally around you! I know you will say “...but there are so many photographers available, which one should I choose?” well, as a consumer I would first of all go by whose style you like the most? Contact the photographer and ask questions about the session you are interested in. Figure out for yourself which product you want as the end result... Ask all the questions you need as far as pricing, turn around time, place of the sessions and so on and the most important in my opinion PLEASE READ THE CONTRACTS you sign. A lot of times people get apprehensive about signing contracts on photography but let me tell you, the contract works both ways... The signed contract protects both you and the photographer but you have to READ it thoroughly and ask questions if any. My suggestion would be to have a copy of a signed contract by you and by the photographer as at any time if you have a question you can always refer to the contract. And finally very important point – PRICING. You will normally ask why are those prices so high? Well, a quick and simple answer would be – its a business and like every business it needs expenses. Those fancy cameras, lenses, backgrounds, backdrop stands, lighting, props, education, supplies and much more do not just drop from the sky, all of that costs money! A good photographer is continuously trying to improve his/her skills, upgrade gear and create the best service level he/she can possibly offer to clients. Therefore just the expenses require coverage. And I am not even talking about all the utilities, tax filing and accounting, software and much much more. But the BIG and MOST IMPORTANT is the photographers TALENT! Why do you think Picasso's work of art costs so much? Is it because he had to buy a lot of paint? First and for most it is because of his genius special talent and unique pieces of his creation that can not be reproduced... well, these days some can copy his work but none can create new pieces... So, please VALUE your photographer of choice, TRUST his/her style if you made your choice (this is the first reason you chose anyway) and please CHERISH your ART because YOU are part of it!

Love,

Elza
